Safeguarding Policy
Last updated: January 2025
Our commitment
ReadingRight is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children who benefit from our programmes. We take safeguarding seriously and have clear procedures in place to protect children from harm.
Volunteer screening
All volunteers who work directly with children undergo appropriate DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks. We provide safeguarding training to all staff and volunteers before they begin work with us.
Book box design
Our community book boxes are unsupervised public installations. They contain only age-appropriate, vetted reading materials. We do not collect or store any data about children who use our book boxes.
Reporting concerns
If you have a safeguarding concern related to our work, please contact us immediately at safeguarding@readingright.org.uk. All concerns are treated seriously and handled confidentially.
Designated Safeguarding Lead
We have a designated Safeguarding Lead responsible for overseeing compliance with this policy and handling any concerns that arise. Contact details are available on request.
